Ohio Man Charged with Possessing Heroin
A Columbus, Ohio, resident has been hit with a federal indictment in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on a charge of violating the federal narcotics laws, announced United States Attorney Scott W. Brady today.
According to the indictment, Evan Jones, 27, allegedly possessed heroin with the intent to distribute it on July 26, 2018. Jones is facing a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, a fine of $2,000,000, or both.
Assistant United States Attorney Shanicka L. Kennedy is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation resulting in the indictment.
An indictment is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The charges against Jones are the result of a thorough investigation into his alleged involvement in the heroin trade.
The case against Jones serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against heroin trafficking in the region.
As the investigation continues, it is clear that the authorities are taking a tough stance against those involved in the heroin trade.
