David John-Matthew Davis, Armed Bank Robbery, Oklahoma 2023

OKLAHOMA CITY – A brazen bank robbery shook the streets of Oklahoma City earlier this year, leaving law enforcement scrambling to track down the perpetrators. On February 23, 2023, David John-Matthew Davis, 38, allegedly entered a MidFirst Bank located at 5800 North Western Avenue, brandishing a black semi-automatic pistol and demanding that a teller open the bank vault.

According to court records, Davis jumped over the teller counter, grabbed a teller, and pointed the gun at the teller’s head, ordering them to open the vault. An unspecified amount of money was taken in the heist, and Davis made his escape. The investigation revealed that Paris Kathryn Mace, 29, served as the getaway driver, while Christian DeLeon Lane, 36, assisted with arranging the robbery.

Law enforcement arrested Davis in Omaha, Nebraska, on February 27, 2023, while Mace was apprehended in Omaha on February 28, 2023. Lane was arrested in Dallas, Texas, on the same day. All three suspects were subsequently charged with armed bank robbery, conspiracy to commit bank robbery, and aiding and abetting the robbery.

Davis and Mace appeared in federal court in Nebraska on March 2, 2023, where they were ordered to be detained pending further proceedings. Lane made his initial appearance in the Western District of Oklahoma on March 10, 2023, and was also ordered to be detained.

The defendants face serious penalties if found guilty, including up to 25 years in prison, five years of supervised release, a fine of $250,000, and payment of mandatory restitution. If convicted of conspiracy to commit bank robbery, each defendant faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, a fine of $250,000, and payment of mandatory restitution.

The investigation was a collaborative effort between the FBI’s Oklahoma City Field Office, the Oklahoma City Police Department’s Robbery Division, and local law enforcement agencies in Dallas and Omaha. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Wilson McGarry and Dan Gridley are prosecuting the case.

The public is reminded that these charges are merely allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community vigilance and the tireless efforts of law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice.
