New Orleans, LA – Honduran National Indicted for Illegal Re-Entry
U.S. Attorney Duane Evans announced today that Olga Marina Estrada-Barahona, age 44, was charged on January 14, 2022 in a one-count indictment for illegal reentry of a removed alien in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).
According to the indictment, Olga Marina Estrada-Barahona (“ESTRADA”), reentered the United States after she was previously deported on January 25, 2006. If convicted, Estrada faces up to a maximum term of imprisonment of up two years, a fine of up to $250,000, up to a one-year term of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.
U. S. Attorney Duane Evans reiterated that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
U.S. Attorney Evans praised the work of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this matter. Assistant U. S. Attorney Carter K. D. Guice, Jr. is in charge of the prosecution.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Carter K. D. Guice, Jr. and is pending in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
