Montgomery, Alabama – In a stark reminder of the justice system’s resolve against sexual predators, Kevin Darcy Golden, 45, of Auburn, was sentenced yesterday to 35 years in federal prison for producing child pornography. Golden will also be under supervised release for life if he ever dares to walk free again.
Golden’s despicable crimes spanned from at least April to December 2011, when the predator captured numerous videos of female children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. His sickening behavior included secretly filming the children undressing at his residence and, on other occasions, engaging in explicit acts with them while they were unconscious.
U.S. Attorney George L. Beck, Jr., commented on the severity of Golden’s actions, stating, “Performing sexual acts on children is one of the most despicable things a person can do. We will not tolerate it and will work feverishly to stop this horrific conduct.”
The FBI’s Steve Richardson echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in such investigations. “Cases related to the exploitation of children are our top priority,” Richardson said. “Our ability to investigate and prosecute these activities is enhanced when we work with our local and federal partners.”
Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson commended the efforts of law enforcement, noting that this case was another example of what can be achieved through united front against child exploitation. “We appreciate the hard work of the US Attorney’s office and the FBI in making our community a safer place,” Dawson stated.
This investigation was conducted by the Opelika field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Auburn (Alabama) Police Department, with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Jared H. Morris and Nathan D. Stump. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
