GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Kisano Opisbo, alias Enrickson Fredrick, a 43-year-old citizen of the Federated States of Micronesia, was today sentenced to five months and 18 days in federal prison for illegal reentry into the United States.
The District Court also imposed a three-year term of supervised release post-incarceration and ordered Opisbo to pay a mandatory $100 assessment fee.
Opisbo, who previously served time for burglary, fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, and indecent exposure in Guam, was deported back to FSM in December 2002. He returned under a false identity, changing his name and obtaining a new passport, which allowed him to travel through Hawaii and South Carolina.
On November 11, 2016, federal immigration authorities apprehended Opisbo on the island of Guam while en route to Pohnpei. His identity was uncovered through biometric data.
Acting United States Attorney for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, SHAWN N. ANDERSON, emphasized the Department of Justice’s commitment to enforcing federal immigration laws, stating, ‘Our office will continue to hold criminal aliens accountable for unlawfully entering the United States.’
The investigation leading to Opisbo’s arrest was conducted by U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations, with prosecution handled by Assistant United States Attorney Rosetta San Nicolas.
