Neil McCarthy, Indecent Exposure, New York 2024

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Neil McCarthy, a 25-year-old Oregon native, has been caught in the crosshairs of justice after being charged with indecent exposure during a flight from Oregon to New Hampshire that was diverted to Buffalo.

The U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that McCarthy faces up to six months behind bars and a $5,000 fine for his shocking behavior, which occurred on an American Airlines flight on July 3, 2024.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly, the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority (NFTA) Police were dispatched to Gate 2 at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport after receiving a report that McCarthy exposed himself and urinated in the aisle of the plane mid-flight. The flight was rerouted to Buffalo from Manchester, New Hampshire, following the incident.

Upon landing, an officer boarded the aircraft and spoke with a flight attendant who confirmed McCarthy’s actions. The suspect was promptly taken into custody and removed from the plane.

Mccarthy appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy this afternoon and was released on his own recognizance.

The investigation into McCarthy’s deplorable behavior was conducted by the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority Police, led by Chief Brian Patterson, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, directed by Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia.

It is important to note that the charges against McCarthy are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
