Allen, South Dakota – A 31-year-old man was sentenced to a lengthy prison term for his role in a conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance in Allen, South Dakota, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Orin Three Stars, 31, was convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to five years and 10 months in federal prison on August 15, 2022, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Three Stars will also serve five years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

According to court documents, Three Stars was involved in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in South Dakota. The Badlands Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force, which includes agents from the FBI, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, Bureau of Indian Affairs Division of Drug Enforcement, Martin Police Department, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathryn N. Rich prosecuted the case, which resulted in Three Stars being remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service immediately after sentencing.
