Jeremiah Cundiff, Machinegun Possession, Florida 2024

ORLANDO, FL – The United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg has announced a serious charge against 19-year-old Jeremiah Cundiff for the illegal possession of a machinegun. If convicted, Cundiff is staring down a decade behind bars.

The indictment also reveals that the feds intend to seize a Glock GMBH 23 .40 caliber pistol, a machinegun conversion device, and associated ammunition from Cundiff, indicating a concerted effort by law enforcement to remove dangerous weaponry from the streets of Orlando.

Cundiff was caught with the machinegun on October 23, 2023. The formal charge against him is merely an accusation at this stage; every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This case has been investigated by none other than the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with significant support from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Noah P. Dorman will be leading the prosecution against Cundiff.

The case is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence across communities. It focuses on fostering trust, supporting community-based organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results to ensure neighborhood safety.

On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a strategy to strengthen PSN in line with these core principles, emphasizing proactive measures to prevent violence before it occurs. The charges against Cundiff represent the ongoing commitment to this initiative.
