Twenty-two individuals, previously deported from the United States, have been convicted for illegally re-entering the country, announced United States Attorney John P. Heekin.
According to court records, the defendants had each been previously removed due to being unlawfully present in the country, and illegally reentered without seeking the necessary permission or approval from the United States.
Among those convicted is Oscar Alva-Cabrera, a Mexican national, who was previously removed in May 2024. He was encountered in Santa Rosa County on May 20, 2025.
Alva-Cabrera was convicted of illegal re-entry into the United States after removal, in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326. He is scheduled to be sentenced on a later date.
The convictions were the result of an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
Oscar Alva-Cabrera, 40, of Mexico, was previously removed from the United States in May 2024. He was encountered in Santa Rosa County on May 20, 2025, and subsequently convicted of illegal re-entry into the United States after removal.
Alva-Cabrera’s exact sentence has not been determined yet and will be announced at a later date.
