In a disturbing display of disregard for the law, Osco Lothario Jackson, 37, shot into a group of people on September 6, 2023, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The intended target, a man, was hit in the leg, while several teenagers were also caught in the crossfire.

Jackson’s long history of violent offenses, including Assault on a Government Official/Employee, Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, makes him a habitual offender. As a result, he is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The case was investigated by the ATF and CMPD, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimlani Ford prosecuted the case. The sentence was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Lawrence J. Cameron, who expressed his commitment to keeping the community safe from gun violence.

Jackson will remain in federal custody pending placement by the Federal Bureau of Prisons at a designated facility.

The community is breathing a sigh of relief now that Jackson is behind bars, but the incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of gun violence and the importance of holding offenders accountable for their actions.
