Oxycodone Dealer Sentenced in Vermont
Susan Wells, 40, of Colchester, was sentenced to two years of probation for distributing oxycodone in a case investigated by the Colchester Police Department and the Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
U.S. District Judge William K. Sessions III handed down the sentence, which includes a condition of performing 100 hours of community service.
The case began in June 2012 when authorities learned that employees and others had embezzled over $550,000 from Brault’s Mobile Homes, Inc. of Colchester.
During the investigation, two former employees admitted to embezzling funds and stated they used the money to buy prescription pain medications, including oxycodone, from Wells between 2009 and 2011.
Police arranged for one of the embezzlers to make three controlled purchases of oxycodone from Wells in the spring of 2012.
Wells pleaded guilty to the charge just one week after the government filed a criminal information alleging the oxycodone distribution.
She is represented by David Kidney and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Waples.
