A Dyer man, Michael Deckinga, 42, is headed to federal prison for 15 years for distributing child pornography. The sleazeball, who posed as a respectable educator at Mid-America Reformed Seminary, hid behind a veil of anonymity to collect and distribute the vilest child abuse material.
According to investigators, Deckinga used Kik Messenger to access and distribute child pornography for approximately five years, sending graphic online messages to minors to solicit more abuse material.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Homeland Security Investigations, the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and local law enforcement, Deckinga’s crimes were uncovered, and he’s now facing the music.
As U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred put it, ‘The Defendant was a wolf in sheep’s clothing…He betrayed his true self behind the Internet’s veil of anonymity.’
