PEORIA, ILLINOIS – Jordan D. Salem, a 25-year-old Peoria resident, was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for producing child pornography while on the sex offender registry.
Salem, who pleaded guilty on June 28, 2016, has been found guilty of creating multiple false identities on Facebook and soliciting nude photographs and sexual acts from at least 28 females, including 10 minors. Under his fictitious personas, Salem promised substantial payments for producing short pornographic videos while assuring the girls their identities would remain concealed.
The investigation revealed that Salem convinced six minor females, one as young as 11, to produce sexually explicit images and engage in sexual intercourse under false pretenses. Salem claimed he had previously produced pornography with minors and could protect their identity, but failed to honor any of his promises.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald L. Hanna prosecuted the case, which was a result of a joint investigation by the United States Secret Service, Peoria Police Department, and Peoria County Sheriff’s Department. Salem has been in custody since his arrest on October 30, 2015.
This sentence comes as part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse launched by the Department of Justice. For more information on Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
Jordan Salem’s case is a stark reminder of the dangers of online predators and the necessity for vigilant law enforcement efforts to protect our children.
