A brazen armed robbery at a Philadelphia pharmacy has landed a local man in hot water. Ronald Hanible, 47, is facing serious charges after allegedly robbing Aspire Pharmacy at 4307 Locust Street on April 27, 2018.
According to court documents, Hanible brandished a handgun at a store employee during the heist, which netted him approximately $200 and a haul of Oxycodone and Xanax pills. The indictment alleges that the defendant violated federal laws prohibiting robbery, firearm possession, and controlled substance distribution.
Hanible is charged with one count of robbery that interfered with interstate commerce, one count of using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and two counts of possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
If convicted of all charges, Hanible faces a maximum of life imprisonment, a mandatory-minimum imprisonment of seven years, six years up to lifetime supervised release, a $3,000,000 fine, and a $400 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Philadelphia Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney José R. Arteaga is leading the prosecution.
Hanible’s alleged crimes have sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for stricter penalties for those involved in such brazen crimes.
