Philadelphia Man Jailed for Videotaping Children
A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for secretly videotaping two young girls. Roger Wallach, 38, of Philadelphia, PA, was found guilty of manufacturing and attempting to manufacture child pornography.
The horrific crimes took place over a three-month period, with Wallach using a spy watch and his laptop webcam to record the 10- and 11-year-old victims undressing, using the bathroom, and showering. He even saved hundreds of sexually explicit images on his cell phone, iCloud account, and laptop.
Wallach had previously pleaded guilty to nine counts of manufacturing and attempting to manufacture child pornography, as well as one count of possession of child pornography. In addition to his prison sentence, he will be required to undergo a sex offender evaluation and treatment after his release.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella. U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain praised the FBI’s efforts in bringing the perpetrator to justice, stating, ‘Child predators are among the worst type of criminals.’
Michael T. Harpster, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division, added, ‘Wallach’s heinous crimes robbed these young girls of their innocence and childhood.’
The lengthy prison sentence and 20-year term of supervised release serve as a stern punishment for Wallach’s deplorable actions. The sentence aims to protect society’s most vulnerable victims and send a strong message to other predators that they will be held accountable.
The case highlights the importance of vigilance in protecting children from predators. It also underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to hunting down and bringing to justice those who prey on the innocent.
The U.S. Attorney’s office and the FBI have worked tirelessly to bring justice to the victims and their families. Their efforts serve as a beacon of hope for those affected by such heinous crimes.
