PHILADELPHIA – Joshua Lang, a 37-year-old Philadelphia resident, was sentenced today to more than 35 years in prison for sexually abusing children, producing child pornography, and related offenses. United States Attorney David Metcalf announced the sentence of 430 months plus lifetime supervised release.
The defendant’s crimes were uncovered when the Philadelphia Police Department Special Victims Unit (PPD SVU) traced Lang’s purchase of child pornography from a 13-year-old girl on Instagram in December 2022. A search warrant executed at Lang and his co-defendant Kenneth Miller’s residence revealed an extensive network of abuse, including hands-on sexual exploitation of minors.
Lang and Miller were arrested and charged with numerous sexual offenses following the July 19, 2023, raid. They remained in custody until federal charges were filed in September 2023. Lang was indicted on 16 counts, including conspiracy to manufacture child pornography and receipt of child pornography.
The investigation revealed that over a three-year period, Lang and Miller sexually abused several minors, recording their exploitation for personal gratification. The pair also installed hidden cameras at their residence to produce and trade explicit images of the children they exploited.
U.S. Attorney Metcalf emphasized the gravity of Lang’s actions, stating, “The crimes Lang committed are stomach-turning. He sexually abused two children, documented that exploitation, and violated the privacy and trust of other children for his and his partner’s gratification.”
Miller was previously sentenced to 400 months’ imprisonment and five years of supervised release for his role in the crime. The community is now safer with Lang and Miller behind bars, a sentence that ensures they will remain where they belong.
