Pittsburgh Man Sentenced for Possessing Child Exploitation Images

A 44-year-old Pittsburgh resident has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for possessing images of minors.

Philip W. Wagner, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was convicted of Possession of Material Depicting the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor on March 20, 2018.

Wagner was found to have possessed images and videos of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, some of whom had not yet attained 12 years of age.

Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak imposed the sentence on Wagner.

The investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Wagner was commended by Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman.

Kaufman commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, and the Western Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force for their efforts.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Wagner was sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak on March 20, 2018.

The investigation into Wagner’s crimes was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, and the Western Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan.
