Pierre Woman Sentenced for Theft from Tribe
Ravae Bowman, a 40-year-old Pierre woman, has been sentenced to three years of probation with six months of home confinement, $5,183.07 in restitution, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund for theft from an Indian tribal organization.
According to court records, Bowman embezzled money from a Subway store in Eagle Butte, where she served as the manager. The store was an entity of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Telephone Authority and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. The theft occurred in October 2012.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case. U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange handed down the sentence on October 29, 2013.
Bowman’s sentence includes three years of probation, with six months of home confinement. She must also pay $5,183.07 in restitution to the victims of her theft.
