Natalie White Plume, a 36-year-old Pine Ridge woman, has pleaded guilty to making a false statement, a crime that has landed her with a maximum penalty of 5 years of imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
According to court documents, White Plume failed to disclose her income on her Economic Assistance Application for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families and her Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program application between March and April 2011. The investigation was conducted by the State of South Dakota Department of Social Services.
White Plume’s plea was made before Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court, on March 8, 2013. A presentence investigation has been ordered, and a sentencing date has been set for June 11, 2013.
