Pittsburgh Heroin Dealer Gets 2 More Years
A Pittsburgh heroin dealer has been sentenced to two additional years in prison for conspiring to distribute the deadly opioid while out on bond in another federal case.
Leevaughn Walls, 38, formerly of Pittsburgh and Bulger, Pennsylvania, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Nora Barry Fischer.
Walls was already serving a 63-month prison sentence in another federal case involving heroin and cocaine trafficking. Judge Fischer ordered that the new 24-month sentence be served consecutively to the existing sentence, making Walls eligible for release in nearly 10 years.
As part of his sentence, Walls will also serve three years of supervised release after he is released from prison. Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
The multi-agency investigation that led to Walls’ sentencing involved the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, and several other local and federal agencies.
The investigation, which was funded by the federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program (OCDETF), was a collaborative effort to take down a major interstate heroin trafficking organization.
The OCDETF program provides critical federal funding and coordination that allows federal and state agencies to work together to successfully identify, investigate, and prosecute major drug trafficking organizations and other criminal enterprises.
