Fentanyl Distribution Charges Filed Against Pittsburgh Man

A former Pittsburgh resident has been charged with distributing fentanyl, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and three non-fatal overdoses, according to federal authorities.

Jocquinn Lamont Harris, 29, a former resident of Pittsburgh, has been indicted on seven counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and heroin. The charges include two counts of distributing fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury and/or death, and five counts of distributing fentanyl and heroin.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, which revealed that Harris distributed fentanyl and heroin on multiple occasions in November and December 2015. According to the indictment, Harris distributed fentanyl on November 29, 2015; December 3, 2015; December 4, 2015; and December 5, 2015, resulting in serious bodily injury and/or death. Harris also allegedly distributed heroin and fentanyl on December 15, 2015, and December 16, 2015.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not less than 20 years and up to life in prison, a fine of $1,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. Harris is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
