PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County resident Thomas Poole, 53, has pleaded guilty in federal court for his role in a massive cocaine trafficking conspiracy.
According to the United States Attorney Scott W. Brady, Poole admitted to conspiring with others to distribute and possess at least 15 kilograms but less than 50 kilograms of cocaine between August 2016 and November 30, 2017.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) launched a wiretap investigation in Western Pennsylvania in 2017 that led to Poole’s arrest. On the day of his arrest, authorities seized $144,785 in U.S. currency, jewelry, a Honda Odyssey, and approximately six kilograms of cocaine from locations associated with Poole.
Scheduled for October 24, 2019, Poole faces a potential sentence of not less than ten years and up to life imprisonment, along with a fine that could reach $10 million. Assistant United States Attorneys Jerome A. Moschetta and Rebecca L. Silinski are handling the prosecution.
The DEA conducted the investigation that resulted in Poole’s guilty plea. With this conviction, the grimy truth of Poole’s involvement in one of Pittsburgh’s most significant drug trafficking rings has been laid bare.
