Trevor Uhls, a 29-year-old from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, has been accused of running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded at least 24 investors out of more than $2 million. The scheme, which allegedly started in 2025, involved Uhls promising investors high returns on storage unit investments. However, instead of investing the money, Uhls used it for his personal benefit, including buying a $20,000 Rolex watch.
The complaint filed against Uhls alleges that he made false and misleading representations to investors, claiming they could earn 8.5% interest by pooling their money. One investor was convinced to wire $15,000 to Uhls’ checking account, which was then used to purchase the Rolex watch and a bracelet.
Uhls’ scheme was uncovered after a review of his financial records found no evidence that he had invested the victims’ money in storage units. On July 20, 2026, a temporary restraining order was issued against Uhls, ordering him to stop committing wire fraud and soliciting funds from investors.
Uhls’ detention without bond has been requested due to his continued contact with victims and attempts to confront them about their cooperation with law enforcement. The case is being pursued under the leadership of President Donald Trump and the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.
