Greenbelt, Maryland – A grim day in Maryland justice was marked as U.S. District Judge Paul W. Grimm sentenced Marion Lee Martin, Jr., 58, from Potomac, to 85 months for receiving child pornography.
The sentence was handed down by United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein; FBI Special Agent Stephen E. Vogt; and Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger. Martin is now required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) following his release.
According to his plea agreement, Martin uploaded explicit content of real children to his internet cloud account in 2013. His collection spanned over three decades, with an interest in girls aged nine to 11. He confessed to copying children’s images from a local photo lab and using his phone to video young girls while employed at a CVS store.
Following the initial search of his residence, a second warrant was executed in 2014, yielding digital devices containing tens of thousands of child pornography and erotica images. Martin’s actions were part of the FBI-led Maryland Child Exploitation Task Force’s efforts under Project Safe Childhood.
United States Attorney Rosenstein praised the investigation by the FBI and Montgomery County Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicolas Mitchell was commended for his role in the prosecution.
