Pottsboro Man Guilty of Casino Theft

Allen Michael Scott, a 22-year-old man from Pottsboro, Texas, has been sentenced to serve 2 months in prison for his role in the theft of a gaming establishment on Indian lands.

According to court documents, Scott, an employee of the Choctaw Nation Casino and Resort, embezzled, abstracted, purloined, willfully misapplied, and took and carried away in excess of $1,000 from the casino between February 9, 2015, and February 20, 2015.

The charges against Scott arose from an investigation by the Choctaw Nation Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Assistant United States Attorney Kristin Harrington represented the United States in the case.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing.

As part of his sentence, Scott will also serve 3 years of supervised release, which will include 6 months of home detention.

The theft occurred at the Choctaw Nation Casino and Resort, an Indian gaming establishment operated by the Choctaw Nation in Indian Country, pursuant to an ordinance or resolution approved by the National Indian Gaming Commission.

The case is a reminder of the importance of accountability in the gaming industry, where large sums of money are involved.

Scott’s sentence serves as a warning to others who would seek to exploit their positions for personal gain.
