TULSA, Okla. – Today, U.S. District Judge Sara E. Hill delivered a severe blow to predatory behavior as she sentenced Corey Allan Pickup, Jr., 33, of Pryor, to 180 months in federal prison for the heinous crime of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in Indian Country. The judge also imposed a 25-year supervised release following his prison term and ordered Pickup to register as a sex offender upon his release.
According to court documents, Pickup’s monstrous act unfolded during a sleepover in late 2018 when he took advantage of the child’s innocence. While the child was asleep, Pickup provided alcohol to the minor and then sexually abused them, leaving an indelible mark on their young life.
Pickup is a Cherokee Nation citizen, and his sentence sends a powerful message about justice in Indian Country. He will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons where he will face years of harsh confinement for his actions.
The FBI and Mayes County Sheriff’s Office worked tirelessly to investigate and bring Pickup to justice. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan E. Michel prosecuted the case with unwavering determination, ensuring that Pickup would be held accountable for his despicable crimes.
