Queen Adeboyejo, Student Loan Fraud, Georgia 2017

Former Bibb County Public Schools employee, Queen Adeboyejo, age 64 of Perry, Georgia, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for Student Loan Fraud. The charge stems from her use of personal identifying information to fraudulently obtain over $90,000 in federal student loans.

Adeboyejo was pursuing her doctoral degree and was initially denied additional federal student aid due to poor credit. To qualify for more loans, she needed an endorser. Without consent, Adeboyejo obtained the PII of three individuals, including a colleague from Bibb County Public Schools, and used it to create forged endorsement addendums, thereby securing $18,828.00 with one endorser and $75,166.00 with another.

Further investigation revealed an attempted fraud of $150,000. The OIG’s Southeastern Regional Office Special Agent in Charge, Yessyka Santana, emphasized the gravity of such scams, stating that the OIG is committed to fighting student financial aid fraud.

United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, G.F. “Pete” Peterman, III, condemned Adeboyejo’s actions, emphasizing the harm caused to legitimate students and taxpayers. He commended the investigators from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Inspector General and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office for their work in bringing her to justice.

Sentencing is set for June 26, 2017, where Adeboyejo faces up to five years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, or both, and three years of supervised release. She has also agreed to pay $123,732.18 in restitution to the United States Department of Education.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of Education – Office of Inspector General and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office – Property Crimes Division. Assistant United States Attorney Beth Howard is handling the prosecution.
