Vincent Hopson, Receiving CSAM, Virginia 2021

A Quinton man has been handed a stiff sentence for his role in a disgusting case of child sexual abuse material.

Vincent Hopson, 66, was sentenced to five years in prison for receiving child sexual abuse material (CSAM) after a lengthy investigation by federal authorities.

According to court documents, the FBI identified an IP address used to seek CSAM in July 2021. Law enforcement then tracked down the IP address to Hopson’s residence and executed a search warrant on November 29, 2021.

During the search, agents seized several electronic devices, which were later forensically examined. The investigation revealed that Hopson was in possession of 283 images and 95 videos of CSAM.

U.S. Attorney Jessica D. Aber and FBI Special Agent Stanley M. Meador announced the sentencing after Senior U.S. District Judge Robert E. Payne handed down the sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather H. Mansfield prosecuted the case, which was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

The case against Hopson serves as a stark reminder of the importance of this initiative and the need for continued vigilance in the fight against child sexual exploitation.
