New York – The grimy truth about Buffalo’s dilapidated rentals came to light today as New York Attorney General Letitia James announced a record-breaking $515,000 fine against the Raiszadeh Group for their role in poisoning children with lead.
For years, this sleazy landlord has owned and managed 78 properties, predominantly in low-income neighborhoods, where peeling paint and lead-laden conditions were allowed to fester. The state investigation found that these neglectful practices led to the lead poisoning of 14 innocent kids between 2017 and 2025.
“Every child deserves a safe home,” AG James stated with a stern tone. “But Farhad Raiszadeh and his group have been anything but responsible.”
The fine includes $70,000 for immediate tenant relief – a tiny drop in the bucket for such flagrant neglect. Another $445,000 is designated for lead remediation at dozens of properties across Buffalo.
Under this settlement, Raiszadeh must undergo rigorous oversight, including quarterly progress reports and mandatory third-party inspections to ensure compliance with housing codes. If tenants are displaced during remediation, they’ll receive safe accommodations or compensation.
This ruling sends a chilling message: when it comes to the health and safety of Buffalo’s families, there will be no tolerance for the likes of the Raiszadeh Group.
