Greenbelt, Maryland – In a shocking turn of events, a local man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a brutal brothel robbery and rape.

A 24-year-old Hyattsville resident, Ramon Miguel Cerros-Cruz, pleaded guilty to conspiring to rob a brothel located in an apartment in Hyattsville.

According to court documents, on February 28, 2007, Cerros-Cruz and his co-conspirators went to the brothel, where they demanded money and committed heinous crimes.

They tied up the brothel doorman, raped a prostitute who worked at the brothel, and used knives to stab another victim to death.

Cerros-Cruz and his co-conspirators then fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of destruction and heartbreak.

A co-defendant, Alexsi Lopez, 26, of Hyattsville, was indicted on July 15, 2013, on charges arising from the conspiracy and pleaded not guilty on July 26, 2013.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein praised the HSI Baltimore and Prince George’s County Police Department for their work in the investigation.
