Pierre Man Charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Meth

A Pierre man has been charged with conspiring to distribute a controlled substance in central South Dakota.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Randy Little Shield, a 30-year-old man, was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 10, 2021 for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance.

The maximum penalty for this crime is up to life in federal prison and/or a $10,000,000 fine, five years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.

The Indictment alleges that on July 14, 2021, in Pierre, Little Shield conspired with others to knowingly and intentionally distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine in central South Dakota.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan Dilges is prosecuting the case.

Little Shield was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of up to life in federal prison and/or a $10,000,000 fine, five years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
