Jeremy Douglas Vance, a 37-year-old from Rapid City, South Dakota, was meted out a severe blow to his freedom when he was sentenced on June 7, 2019, for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Before Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken of the U.S. District Court, Vance received a five-year term in federal prison, followed by four years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
In an operation that spanned from June 2015 through February 2017, Vance sold and distributed over 50 grams of methamphetamine within the Rapid City area. The illicit activities did not go unnoticed as law enforcement agencies including the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives conducted a thorough investigation.

As a result of his conviction, Vance was also forced to forfeit a 12-gauge shotgun, a Glock firearm, and ammunition—all of which were seized during the course of his drug-dealing activities.
Upon completion of his sentence, Vance will be immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to serve out his term and complete his supervised release period.
