June Einspahr Swalley, Methamphetamine Possession with Intent to Distribute, South Dakota 2017

The grim streets of Rapid City, South Dakota, are once again the backdrop for a high-stakes drug investigation. June Swalley, also known as June Einspahr and June Dmytrask, aged 31 from Rapid City, and Jeremey White Horse, aged 40 from Crookston, Minnesota, have been hit with federal charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance – methamphetamine.

Swalley and White Horse were officially indicted by a federal grand jury on February 15, 2017. They both stood before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno – Swalley in May, while White Horse faced the court in March. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

Should they be found guilty, the duo faces a severe penalty of up to 20 years behind bars and/or a $1,000,000 fine. Supervised release for two years, a contribution of up to $300 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund, and restitution may also follow.

The Indictment paints a chilling picture, charging that on June 30, 2016, Swalley and White Horse intentionally possessed methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Their criminal activities didn’t stop there; they were again accused of similar charges for another detectable amount of the drug on July 21, 2016.

Swalley remains in custody under the U.S. Marshals Service while awaiting trial, while White Horse is out on bond. The court has set a trial date for June 27, 2017. Until proven guilty, they are presumed innocent.

This investigation was handled by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges taking the lead in prosecution.
