Rapid City Man Indicted On Child Pornography Charges
A Rapid City man has been indicted on serious child pornography charges.
Nicholas Adam Jensen, 24, was hit with a federal indictment on September 23, 2014, for allegedly distributing and possessing computer files containing images of child pornography.
The charges claim that between March 2013 and April 2013, at Rapid City, Jensen knowingly distributed and possessed these computer files.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Jensen was released pending trial, which is set for March 10, 2015. The penalty upon conviction is a mandatory minimum of 5 years’ imprisonment up to 20 years’ imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine, a lifetime of supervised release, and a $100 assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson made the announcement, stressing that the charges are mere accusations and Jensen is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Jensen appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica Duffy on October 14, 2014, and pled not guilty to the indictment.
The investigation into Jensen’s activities is an ongoing effort to protect our community from these heinous crimes.
