Rapid City Man Sentenced for Aggravated Sexual Abuse

In a shocking case of child abuse, a Rapid City man, Faron Ben Cheyenne, has been sentenced to 114 months' imprisonment and 5 years' supervised release for the aggravated sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl.

The heinous crime took place in July 2011, near Wounded Knee. Cheyenne, 27 at the time, pleaded guilty to the crime on November 29, 2012.

According to sources, the victim was just 16 years old when she was brutally assaulted by Cheyenne. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for harsher punishments for sex offenders.

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the sentencing, which was handed down by Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on April 29, 2013. Cheyenne was also ordered to pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims fund.
