Daniel Alan Robertson, Child Pornography Distribution, Ohio 2023

CLEVELAND – Daniel Alan Robertson, a 47-year-old resident of Ravenna, Ohio, will spend the next decade behind bars after being sentenced for a sickening crime. Robertson received 121 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to receiving and distributing sexually explicit images and videos of children. The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Charles Esque Fleming, reflects the gravity of his depravity and the harm inflicted upon vulnerable victims.

Court documents detail a disturbing pattern of behavior spanning from March 1 to December 4, 2024. Robertson actively used peer-to-peer file sharing programs to both download and disseminate horrific content depicting the sexual abuse of children, including those who were prepubescent. This wasn’t passive viewing; Robertson was an active participant in spreading this material, amplifying the abuse and contributing to the exploitation of innocent lives.

A federal search warrant executed in December 2024 uncovered a digital trove of depravity within Robertson’s home. Agents seized a computer, two laptops, and multiple digital storage devices. The investigation revealed a vast collection of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including images and videos of children under the age of 12, and sadistic, violent content. The sheer volume of material seized paints a picture of a calculated and sustained obsession.

The images and videos were immediately submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) for analysis. The painstaking work of NCMEC investigators led to the identification of more than 20 child victims whose images were found on Robertson’s devices. While the full extent of the harm remains unknown, authorities are working to provide support and resources to these survivors.

Robertson’s sentence doesn’t end with his prison term. Upon release, he will face 10 years of supervised release. Furthermore, the court ordered him to pay $117,500 in restitution to the victims and $10,000 in Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act (JVTA) assessments. Assistant United States Attorney Toni Beth Schnellinger Feisthamel prosecuted the case, ensuring accountability for Robertson’s heinous actions.

This case was brought forth as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative dedicated to combating the escalating epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The FBI Cleveland Division, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol-Office of Investigative Services Computer Crimes Unit all contributed to the investigation.
