Raymond Racey, Methamphetamine Manufacturing Conspiracy, Tennessee 2015

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – In a blow to the methamphetamine trade in east Tennessee, Raymond Racey, 35, of Rockwood, was sentenced to serve 240 months in prison for his role in a major conspiracy.

The charges, which were filed against Racey and several others in a July 2014 indictment, alleged that he and at least one other person conspired to manufacture and distribute at least 50 grams of methamphetamine in various locations in east Tennessee between 2012 and 2014.

Racey pleaded guilty to the offenses in June 2015, and according to documents on file with U.S. District Court, he purchased or had others purchase pseudoephedrine that he used to manufacture methamphetamine.

This case was the result of a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies, including the Roane County Sheriff’s Office, Harriman Police Department, Rockwood Police Department, Kingston Police Department, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brooklyn Sawyers represented the United States in the case.

Upon his release from prison, Raymond Racey will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for 10 years.

The sentencing of Raymond Racey brings an end to a lengthy investigation and prosecution, and it serves as a reminder of the severity of the penalties for those involved in the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine.
