A federal judge in Omaha, Nebraska, has sentenced Lonnie Mason, 42, of Grand Island, Nebraska, to 250 months imprisonment for conspiring to distribute and possessing with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Mason was sentenced on May 7, 2025, in United States District Court in Omaha, Nebraska. He will begin a lifetime term of supervised release after his release from prison, as there is no parole in the federal system.
The investigation into Mason’s activities began when law enforcement conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on February 4, 2024, and located 25 pounds of methamphetamine contained in a hidden compartment. A search warrant was also executed at Mason’s apartment, where authorities found a stolen firearm, methamphetamine, ammunition, and evidence of Mason’s recent trip to California.
Mason’s co-conspirators, Jolene Armentrout, Robert Burkhardt, and Stephanie Cummings, have all been convicted and sentenced in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. Cummings received 108 months’ imprisonment, Armentrout received 94 months’ imprisonment, and Burkhardt received 57 months’ imprisonment.
The investigation into Mason’s activities was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Grand Island Police Department. This effort is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which uses a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
Mason’s sentence is a significant blow to the methamphetamine trade in Nebraska, and serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of engaging in such activities. The OCDETF operation continues to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle the networks that facilitate the distribution of methamphetamine and other dangerous substances.
