GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Guadalupe Ramirez, the alleged ‘second in command’ of a sprawling meth distribution network, has been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison. Ramirez, 40, of North Platte, Nebraska, was found guilty of Conspiracy to Distribute 500 grams or more of Methamphetamine.
The sentencing took place on July 3, 2025, before U.S. District Court Judge Susan M. Bazis, who imposed a sentence of 324 months, with no parole in the federal system. Following his release, Ramirez will serve a 10-year term of supervised release.
According to court documents, Ramirez, also known as ‘Shrek,’ was a pivotal figure in a multi-state conspiracy that brought methamphetamine into Nebraska primarily via mailings from California and Mexico. Local agents with the FBI and CODE Task Force began their investigation in 2021, eventually linking Ramirez to the movement of 15 to 45 kilograms of methamphetamine through the state.
During the trial, evidence emerged showing Ramirez’s ties to firearms, including discussions on social media about weaponry and a video of him discharging a firearm from his drug-dealing vehicle. Judge Bazis emphasized Ramirez’s role in the conspiracy, stating that ‘a lot of drugs moved through Nebraska because of you.’
The Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) recognized this year-long investigation as the 2024 Community Impact Operation of the Year. FBI Special Agent in Charge Eugene Kowel highlighted the impact on communities, emphasizing a commitment to dismantling drug trafficking organizations across Nebraska.
U.S. Attorney Lesley Woods commended the CODE Task Force for its collaborative efforts, underscoring their dedication to making Nebraska safer. The investigation was a joint effort of numerous local, state, and federal agencies, including the FBI, Nebraska State Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations, and various police departments.
