Raysheio Black Charged with Hobbs Act Robbery, Plant City FL, 2024

Tampa, FL – A Winter Haven man has been charged with a string of serious crimes following a brazen convenience store robbery in Plant City. Raysheio Black, 24, has been indicted for Hobbs Act robbery, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm after having been convicted of a felony offense.

According to investigators, on February 19, 2024, three individuals wearing dark-colored face coverings, gloves, masks, and armed with semi-automatic pistols stormed a convenience store in Plant City, demanding cash from the clerk. Surveillance footage captured the suspects’ getaway in a black SUV.

Agents from the Lakeland Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) quickly linked the plant City robbery to a similar incident at a pizza delivery location in Lakeland just days earlier. Black faces a minimum mandatory sentence of seven years in federal prison, which must be served consecutive to any other term of imprisonment, and a maximum sentence of life in federal prison if convicted on all counts. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities nationwide.

An indictment is merely a formal charge, and every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Diego F. Novaes.

The investigation into the Plant City robbery is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The community is encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

This case highlights the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in preventing and solving crimes. By working together, law enforcement agencies can make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
