A Niceville retired Army Sergeant promised his victims a way to make big bucks, but Sidney Marc Wilson Jr. had no intention of delivering. Between 2018 and 2022, Wilson ran an online scheme that duped victims into handing over up to $21,000 for a shot at easy money.
Instead of investing their cash, Wilson simply kept it for himself or handed it off to his conspirators. When victims tried to confront him, Wilson went radio silent.
Wilson’s scheme netted him millions of dollars, all of it swiped from unsuspecting investors who thought they were getting in on the ground floor of a lucrative business opportunity.
Now, the 48-year-old is facing the music, having pleaded guilty to a laundry list of federal charges, including conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, and subscribing to false tax returns.
U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin vowed to hold scammers like Wilson accountable for the harm they cause, saying, ‘Our excellent federal law enforcement partners are hard at work to identify and dismantle those schemes, and my office stands ready to aggressively prosecute these crimes.’
