Scott A. Taylor, Disability Fraud, Missouri 2026

⏱ 3 min read

A St. Louis, MO, businessman has been accused of scamming the disability system – again. Scott A. Taylor, 50, owner of Taylor Made Fossils, was indicted on one count of making a false statement after applying for Social Security disability benefits on January 28, 2026, claiming he hadn’t worked since 1993. That’s a lie.

Taylor’s been running his fossil replica business since 2014, raking in cash while pretending to be too disabled to work. He got caught after an investigation by the Social Security Administration’s Office of Inspector General, and in September, pleaded guilty to one count of theft of government money.

Taylor’s punishment? Five years of probation and ordered to repay $106,923 to the Social Security Administration. The scumball’s got some nerve – he was already on probation from a prior disability fraud case when he pulled this stunt.

Taylor’s scheme undermines the system, which is meant to help those who truly need it. The SSA OIG is committed to identifying and investigating disability fraud, and they’re not going to let scammers like Taylor get away with it.
