A loaded 9mm pistol with a Glock switch was found in the waistband of Carlos Antwon Lewis, a 35-year-old felon, after a traffic stop in Richland County, South Carolina. Lewis, a convicted arsonist and burglar, admitted to having the gun when questioned by a deputy.
The traffic stop occurred on March 4, 2025, after a deputy noticed an SUV committing a traffic offense. Lewis, the front passenger, was also found to have marijuana on him, which he had smoked before leaving his residence.
With a history of violent crimes, including arson and domestic violence, Lewis is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He now faces up to 15 years in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and 3 years of supervision after his release.
U.S. District Judge Mary Geiger Lewis accepted the guilty plea and will sentence Lewis after reviewing a sentencing report from the U.S. Probation Office.
