SCRANTON, PA – Ricky Charles Patterson, a 44-year-old Luzerne County man, has been indicted on charges of drug trafficking, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, the indictment alleges that on or about May 2, 2025, Patterson possessed with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, both Schedule II controlled substances.
It is further alleged that Patterson possessed a Smith & Wesson .44 caliber revolver in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime knowing that he was a prohibited possessor as a convicted felon.
The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (“ATF”), the Luzerne County Drug Task Force, and the Kingston Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorney Tatum Wilson is prosecuting the case.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the government to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
The maximum penalty under federal law for these offenses is life imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
An indictment is only an allegation, and all persons charged are presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in court.
