Ricky Ellis Lamb, Check Forgery, Nebraska 2024

Ricky Ellis Lamb

In a brazen scheme, Ricky Ellis Lamb, a 66-year-old Arkansas native, traveled through the Midwest between January 15, 2019, and July 15, 2019, passing, uttering, presenting, and offering fictitious securities to unsuspecting farm and hardware store owners. The scheme, which spanned seven states, resulted in a total loss of $64,651.27, with $7,243.37 of that amount occurring within the District of Nebraska.

Lamb’s scheme involved passing 72 fictitious checks at multiple stores throughout Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Colorado. The checks, which purported to be issued under the authority of 14 different fictitious organizations belonging to Lamb, were used to deceive and swindle innocent business owners.

U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr announced Lamb’s sentence on March 8, 2024, in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska. Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down the sentence of time served, taking into account Lamb’s lengthy custody since August 15, 2019. With no parole in the federal system, Lamb will begin a 5-year term of supervised release upon his release from custody on additional pending charges in multiple states.

In addition to his sentence, Lamb was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $55,653.16 to the victims of his offense. The case was a collaborative effort between the United States Secret Service and numerous local law enforcement agencies across several states.

The investigation, which was led by the United States Secret Service, highlights the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies in bringing perpetrators to justice. Lamb’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of such brazen and deceitful crimes.

As this case demonstrates, the Grimy Times will continue to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions, shedding light on the complex web of crimes that plague our communities.
