Rigoberto Madrid-Morga, a 34-year-old man from Durango, Mexico, has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for his involvement in distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl in Omaha, Nebraska.
On October 18, 2024, Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down the sentence in federal court in Omaha. Madrid-Morga will also serve a 2-year term of supervised release after his release from prison.
The prosecution revealed that in 2021, the DEA was utilizing a confidential informant to purchase narcotics from various individuals in the Omaha area. One of the targets identified by the informant was Neri Mendoza-Rodriguez.
Over the course of several days in April 2021, the informant and Mendoza-Rodriguez communicated regarding a controlled delivery of methamphetamine. On April 5, 2021, law enforcement observed two individuals leave Mendoza-Rodriguez’s residence and get into a vehicle registered to Madrid-Morga. Mendoza-Rodriguez drove, and the two individuals were observed traveling to Village Inn where they met the informant.
The informant was observed getting into Mendoza-Rodriguez’s vehicle and leaving a short time later. The informant purchased 400 grams of methamphetamine. The informant later identified Mendoza-Rodriguez as the driver and Mendoza-Rodriguez’s ‘cousin’ as the passenger, Madrid-Morga.
On April 26, 2021, the informant contacted Mendoza-Rodriguez to purchase 1000 fentanyl pills. On April 29, 2021, the informant went to the same Village Inn and met with Madrid-Morga. The informant got into Madrid-Morga’s vehicle where he exchanged money for 106 grams of fentanyl pressed into pills.
Mendoza-Rodriguez had previously been sentenced on March 10, 2023, to a term of imprisonment of 120 months.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Omaha Police Department.
Madrid-Morga is currently serving his 46-month prison sentence. His case serves as a reminder of the ongoing threat of methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking in the Omaha area.
