Omaha, NE – In a shocking turn of events, Jeffrey Scott Beran, a 51-year-old resident of Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 240 months’ imprisonment for his involvement in a methamphetamine conspiracy.

According to a statement from United States Attorney Susan Lehr, Beran was sentenced on October 18, 2024, in federal court in Omaha. The court, presided over by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., took into account Beran’s lengthy history of serious felony drug convictions, including those from 2007 and 2018.

Beran’s sentence was increased after the court determined that he was a Career Offender. The court’s decision was based on Beran’s numerous prior convictions, which included serious felony drug convictions.

The investigation into Beran’s activities began on March 30, 2023, when the Omaha Police Department utilized a confidential informant (CI) to purchase 91 grams of methamphetamine from Beran. A second controlled buy was conducted on May 31, 2023, which resulted in Beran selling 98 grams of methamphetamine to the CI.

The CI met with Beran, who claimed that he had to go meet someone to obtain the methamphetamine. However, Beran was under surveillance and was observed meeting with a silver Malibu at the Oakview Mall parking lot. Beran then returned to the CI and sold him the methamphetamine.

Beran will begin a 10-year term of supervised release after his release from prison. There is no parole in the federal system. This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine and the importance of law enforcement efforts in combating this deadly substance.
