Newark, NJ – On February 23, 2024, Robert D. Keebler, a 64-year-old tax preparer from Toms River, New Jersey, was sentenced to 144 months in prison for his role in a massive COVID-19 tax credit scheme.

According to court documents, Keebler and his co-conspirators filed numerous false claims with the IRS seeking tax credits related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The scheme aimed to deceive the government into issuing over $170 million in fraudulent refunds.
