A Fallston Man Receives 15 Years for Distributing Child Pornography
In a disturbing case of child exploitation, Robert Jackson Wyatt, Jr., a 54-year-old Fallston resident, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography. This sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Stephanie A. Gallagher, is a stark reminder of the severity of such crimes.
The charges against Wyatt stem from an investigation by the Maryland State Police, which revealed that he was sharing child pornography via a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol. On August 31, 2021, investigators identified Wyatt’s IP address as the source of the illicit files. A search warrant was subsequently executed at his residence, where investigators found multiple devices containing thousands of images and videos of child pornography, including depictions of babies, toddlers, and sadomasochistic abuse of children.
Wyatt’s guilty plea admitted to sharing these files with investigators, resulting in the seizure of over 1170 images and 170 video files from his devices. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, led by United States Attorney Erek L. Barron, commended the Maryland State Police, Homeland Security Investigations, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in the investigation and prosecution. Assistant U.S. Attorney Colleen E. McGuinn prosecuted the case.
Upon his release from prison, Wyatt will be subject to lifetime supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender in the places where he resides, works, and attends school.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and abuse. The Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to protecting the community and bringing perpetrators to justice.
