Fentanyl Trafficking Lands Robinson Guzman Behind Bars
BOSTON, Mass. – A brazen fentanyl trafficking operation has been brought to an end with the sentencing of Robinson Guzman, a 40-year-old Dominican national who previously resided in Lawrence.
On July 2020, Guzman pleaded guilty to three counts of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, and one count of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl. These charges stem from a string of 10 separate drug sales Guzman made to an undercover law enforcement agent between November 2018 and March 2019.
U.S. Senior District Court Judge Mark L. Wolf handed down a 54-month prison sentence for Guzman, who will also face three years of supervised release upon completion of his sentence. Furthermore, Guzman will be subject to deportation proceedings.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell and Brian D. Boyle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Field Division, who commended the valuable assistance provided by the Methuen, Lawrence, and Melrose Police Departments in the case.
The investigation and subsequent prosecution were led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen W. Hassink of Mendell’s Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit.
Robinson Guzman, 40, was sentenced for the following crimes: three counts of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, and one count of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of fentanyl trafficking on communities across Massachusetts.
